Police: Cyclist struck by car overnight in Bushwick in critical condition

The intersection where the incident took place has reopened after being shut down for hours.

Police say a cyclist is in critical condition after being struck by a car Sunday night in Bushwick.
According to the NYPD, a 42-year-old man was thrown from his bike after being struck by a car on the corner of Beaver Street and Flushing Avenue at around 11 p.m. The 38-year-old driver was attempting to turn onto the street when her Nissan Rogue collided with the cyclist.
The man on the bike was rushed to the hospital and the woman was taken into custody. The bicyclist has severe head trauma. It's unclear if he was wearing a helmet.
The intersection where the incident took place has reopened after being shut down for hours.
Police say the driver is facing pending charges.
