1 dead in Flatbush Avenue hit-and-run

One person is dead and another man behind bars following an overnight hit-and-run in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens.

(09/06/12) BROOKLYN - One person is dead and another man behind bars following an overnight hit-and-run in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens.
 
According to police, a 40-year-old Hispanic man was struck by a dollar van at Flatbush and Hawthorne avenues at around midnight. They say the driver fled the scene, leaving the victim pinned under a car.
 
Witnesses say two dollar vans were racing down the street when one of them swerved to miss a double parked car.
 
The alleged driver was later taken into custody, but police say the investigation remains ongoing.
