Bronx tops NYC noise complaint list
Recently released data shows that Bronx neighborhoods covered by community boards 3 and 7 are the loudest in New York City.
City officials logged noise complaints made to the 311 hotline in six categories: commercial, house of worship, park, residents, street and vehicle. So far this year, more than 6,000 complaints came from Fordham, Kingsbridge Heights, Bedford Park and University Heights.
Many residents, however, consider the noise a part of the urban lifestyle.
"If people don't like it, there's a place called the country[side]," says Ira Grandison.
According to the report, neighborhoods in northeast Bronx are the quietest in the borough.
