BROOKLYN - The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has announced that it will conduct a major service study on the G train.

Riders frequently complain about the line, saying service is inconsistent. Another source of frustration is train size - the trains only have four cars, instead of the normal eight or 10 like other lines.

Riders would also like countdown clocks and improved PA systems.

A similar survey was conducted on the F and L trains that resulted in upgraded equipment and more service.

The MTA says the study should be completed by the end of summer.
