Rich Barrabi's Long Island roots run deep.
A proud graduate of East Meadow High School, Rich began his career "close to home" after earning a bachelor's degree in Communication from the University of Scranton. He first worked as a sports producer and news videographer with WLNY-TV 10/55, before eventually becoming a general assignment news reporter and fill-in anchor for the Melville based news station.
During this time, Rich also served as the arena host at New York Islanders home games, conducting interviews with players and coaches and providing intermission reports on video screens for the crowd throughout the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
After spending nearly three years with WLNY, Rich became the Sports Anchor/Director for Verizon FiOS1 News Long Island & New Jersey and also wrote award winning feature stories highlighting inspirational Long Islanders.
Rich has been nominated for two New York Emmy Awards in the last two years, and was also the recipient of two separate honors, including a Fair Media Council Folio Award and a NYABJ Award.
Before joining News 12 Long Island in August of 2013, Rich served as an Anchor/Reporter for News 12 the Bronx & News 12 Brooklyn. In 2012, he anchored News 12 Brooklyn newscasts that received awards from the Associated Press and New York Press Club.
Rich has called Long Island home throughout his career, and he and his wife enjoy taking trips "out east" to Montauk whenever they can.
