1 hurt after car crashes through scaffolding in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens

The two-car accident happened near New York Avenue

The two-car accident happened near New York Avenue and Hawthorne Street.

BROOKLYN - One driver was hurt when a two-car crash sent her vehicle through a scaffolding in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens. 

It happened at around 5:30 a.m. near New York Avenue and Hawthorne Street. 

The driver of the second vehicle told News 12 off camera that the woman tried to speed around him, but ended up hitting his car and spinning out of control. She then struck a tree and flew up onto the sidewalk. 

Authorities say the woman was taken to Kings County Hospital, but is expected to be OK. The other driver was not hurt. 

The accident is under investigation.
