CYPRESS HILLS - Fire officials say one person was killed and five firefighters were injured Saturday in a Cypress Hills blaze.

The fire broke out at a Hale Avenue apartment building and one neighbor says she called 911 after seeing the flames and hearing a man's screams for help. Eyewitnesses say they saw a man standing in a front window with his arms outstretched yelling for help.

Fire officials say they found Phillipe Salvadon dead inside the building.

The five firefighters injured extinguishing the flames were taken to Brookdale Hospital.
