THE BRONX - A panel of state lawmakers will examine the benefits and concerns associated with the use of body cameras on New York police officers.

Three different Assembly committees plan to meet Tuesday in the city to review the use of the technology by police.

While supporters of the program say the cameras are a way to hold officers accountable for their actions, opponents say the technology is too expensive and they question how long the video should be kept and who can access it.
