BROOKLYN - Ten firefighters in Brooklyn received scholarships today.

The $2,500 scholarships, awarded by the New York State Honorary Fire Chiefs Association, will be put toward their bachelor's degrees.

The recipients were chosen after a rigorous selection process, which included an essay on how the degree would contribute to the department.

The New York State Honorary Fire Chiefs Association is a non-profit organization that supports firefighters and their families.
