BROOKLYN - A massive organized crime takedown yesterday has 11 Brooklyn residents facing charges.

According to state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and the NYPD, a total of 37 people were arrested on charges stemming from loan sharking, gambling and extortion rings.

Authorities say the rings were closely controlled by the Gambino crime family. They also believe one suspect operated his bookmaking operation inside a dental lab at 1209 McDonald Ave. in Brooklyn.

Most of the indicted defendants are facing charges that carry a sentence of up to 25 years in prison.
