BROOKLYN - Seventeen people are facing charges for their alleged involvement in real estate crimes.

State Sen. Charles Schumer and Brooklyn district attorney Charles Hynes say the defendants preyed on elderly homeowners and those attempting to buy homes in the borough.

The scammers face charges of reverse mortgage scams, loan modifications and deed theft.
