BROOKLYN - Seventeen paramedics and EMTs were promoted in a ceremony at FDNY Headquarters yesterday.

The newly promoted lieutenants and paramedics have more than 174 years combined experience saving lives.

Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano presided over the ceremony. He says the men and women will continue to lead the unmatched level of care New Yorkers have come to expect from the department.

The promotions come at a time when the city is breaking records for emergency responses. Last year, members of the Emergency Medical Service responded to more emergencies than ever before.
