19-year-old Amir Alawadi arrested in murder of East New York deli clerk Hisham Zidan

Police say they are still looking for two persons of interest in connection with the case. (1/14/14)

BROOKLYN - An arrest has been made in the murder of a deli clerk in East New York, but the search for suspects is not over.

According to authorities, 19-year-old Amir Alawadi is accused of killing 55-year-old Hisham Zidan, who was found with a laceration to the head in the basement of the 797 Deli and Grocery Deli last Friday.

Police say that surveillance video from the time of the crime shows other people going in and out of the Stanley Avenue deli, and that the investigation is ongoing as they look for two more persons of interest in connection with the case.

The deli owner says that cash and cigarettes were stolen, but cops have not confirmed how much.

The owner also said that Zidan was from Jordan and that his family is still there.
