BROOKLYN - A 19-year-old mother has been charged with assault in connection with the death of her toddler in Sheepshead Bay. 

According to investigators, officers responded to a 911 call from 2242 Bragg St. at around 4:30 a.m. last Thursday, and found 2-year-old Jayden Smith vomiting and having a difficult time breathing. 

The boy was rushed to Coney Island Hospital in critical condition before being transferred to Maimonides Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. 

The medical examiner ruled the cause of death as blunt trauma to the abdomen with lacerations. 

His mom is also facing charges of endangering the welfare of a child and child endangerment. Smith’s twin sister is now in the custody of child services.
