2 ACS workers suspended following 4-year-old's death

(09/24/10) BROOKLYN - ACS says two workers have been suspended for failing to follow procedures in the case of a 4-year-old girl who died.

Police say Marchella Pierce was severely underweight and may have been tied to a bed when she was found dead at her Bed-Stuy home earlier this month.

The young girl's mother has been charged in the case, but ACS officials now say that lapses on their end may have contributed to the girl?s death. Carlotta Pierce is currently facing assault and reckless endangerment charges. The charges could be upgraded when the medical examiner?s report is released.
