GREENWOOD HEIGHTS - Police say two Brooklyn bus drivers were attacked today in separate incidents within minutes of each other.

The first attack occurred at around 11 a.m. outside Prospect Park at Greenwood Avenue and Prospect Park West. According to investigators, 30-year-old Mark Anthony Salandy was stabbed in the shoulder with a syringe aboard a B68 bus as a male suspect exited.

About 15 minutes later, a bus driver was shoved into a partition near Saint John's Place and Utica Avenue by a female suspect. According to the MTA, the bus driver was helping a wheelchair-bound passenger board the bus when the suspect became irate that she had to wait to get off.

Salandy was taken to Methodist Hospital where he is now on medication. The other driver was taken to the hospital with minor back injuries. Police say there have been no arrests so far.

The union that represents city bus drivers is asking the MTA to build higher partitions and institute a program that would compensate straphangers who help any transit worker in distress.
