BROOKLYN - Two Brooklyn women are among 28 more people charged in a growing Social Security fraud investigation.

The Manhattan District Attorney's Office announced the additional arrests Tuesday, which include Janice Daniels and Eileen Giambrone.

The defendants are accused of faking disabilities, often connecting illnesses to Sept. 11, and racking up more than $20 million in Social Security payments.

The case first broke in early January when more than 100 city workers were charged in the scam, including dozens of retired NYPD officers and firefighters.

Authorities say the entire scheme dates back more than two decades.
