BROOKLYN - Two people were hospitalized Friday after being struck by a hit-and-run driver right outside the Kings Plaza Shopping Center, officials say.

Authorities say a gray van traveling on Flatbush Avenue struck a 47-year-old man and 50-year-old woman who were crossing the street around 6 p.m. The van's side-view mirror was left behind on the street.

The two victims were taken to Kings County Hospital. Police say the woman is in critical condition and the man is expected to recover.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
