BROOKLYN - Two people were rushed to the hospital after flames broke out in the attic of a Flatlands home. 

The two-alarm fire started at around 7 a.m. inside the Brooklyn Avenue house. 

Everyone was able to get out, including several young children, but one resident and one firefighter suffered minor injuries in the process. 

Firefighters had the blaze under control in about an hour, but had to battle the frigid cold, along with the flames. 

Councilman Jumaane Williams told News 12 that the affected family has a temporary place to stay.
