BROOKLYN - EMS officials say two people are seriously injured after an early morning blaze in Prospect Park South.

Officials say the fire began at 5:45 a.m. on the fifth floor of a six-story apartment building at 111 East 21st St. near Caton Avenue.

Officials say a man was taken to SUNY Downstate Medical Center and a woman was transported to Kings County Hospital. They say one of the victims was in cardiac arrest.

The fire didn't spread to any other apartments as tenants were able to return to their homes.

Fire officials say they are investigating the cause of the blaze.
