BROOKLYN - Three people were killed and one was wounded last night in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn after a stabbing and three shootings.

The four acts of violence happened within 10 blocks of each other, starting at about 1:15 a.m. Saturday and ending about three hours later.

Police say they arrested a man they believe to be responsible for the stabbing.

According to the NYPD, however, the crime rate is lower than it was this time in 2009. In the northern part of Brooklyn, the crime rate is up slightly from where it was last year, and to the south, the crime rate has dropped about 11 percent since last year, police say.
