BROOKLYN - Three families have been temporarily displaced today after a fire in Williamsburg.

Officials say the fire broke out in the basement of the three-story building on Penn Street, near Bedford Avenue.  They say the fire started because of a malfunctioning boiler.

Authorities say the fire is under control, but the cold weather created a challenge for firefighters.

No one was hurt during the incident.
