Police say the car struck a tree on Ocean Parkway in Midwood just after 3 a.m.

BROOKLYN - A car crash early Sunday morning sent three men in their 20s to the hospital.

Police say a white Acura struck a tree on Ocean Parkway in Midwood just after 3:30 a.m.

The driver and one passenger were were taken to Lutheran Medical Center, where they are in stable condition.

The third man was taken to Kings County Hospital, where he is in critical condition.

Authorities had to saw off both of the vehicle's doors and roof to get the men out.

Nearby residents say a similar wreck happened a couple weeks ago not far from this location, at Avenue P.

Officials say a preliminary investigation shows speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
