32nd Annual Coney Island Mermaid Parade led by Mayor de Blasio's kids


The parade almost did not take place last year after a budget shortfall due to Superstorm Sandy.

Hundreds of mermaids and sea creatures made their way to Brooklyn Saturday to celebrate the 32nd Annual Coney Island Mermaid Parade.

Some 1,500 sea creatures, pirates and of course mermaids roamed the borough's streets throughout the day, and will continue to do so for the rest of the weekend.
