BROOKLYN - Cops are searching for suspects after a 39-year-old man was gunned down in Bushwick Monday night.

According to police, they discovered Dennis Sanchez, of Vanderveer Street in Brooklyn, with a gunshot wound to the face on a Park Street sidewalk while responding to reports of an assault near Beaver Street and Bushwick Avenue.

Sanchez was taken to Elmhurst General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. He is survived by a wife and four children.

Loved ones have since set up a makeshift memorial at the scene. They say Sanchez had just come from visiting his parole officer at the time, and insist he was not the intended target, but was instead caught in the crossfire.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS
