4 arrested at MTA hearing

BROOKLYN - At least 4 people were arrested at the Brooklyn public hearing on the Metropolitan Transportation Authority?s proposed cuts Wednesday night.

Attendees at the meeting loudly protested elimination of student MetroCards, bus transfers and some subway lines. Hundreds packed the Brooklyn Museum and many were angry when local officials were allowed to speak first.

The MTA is proposing the cuts to make up the gap in its $800 million deficit. Additional hearings will take place in the next several weeks.
