4 teens shot at Newport Gardens in Brownsville, 1 dead

BROWNSVILLE - Authorities say four teens were shot in Brownsville Sunday night, including an 18-year-old who was shot fatally.

Police say the incident happened around 6:30 p.m. at 224 Newport Street. Two of the victims were 16 years old, another was 15. All four victims were taken to Brookdale Hospital, according to police.

Police say one teen was shot in the courtyard of Newport Gardens, across the street from P.S. 41.

Neighbors say the teens were hanging around outside the school when the shots rang out. They say they heard at least four guns shots and saw three men wearing hooded sweatshirts flee the scene on bikes.
