4-year-old boy killed, mother injured by MTA bus in Brooklyn

MANHATTAN BEACH - A 4-year-old boy was killed and his mother was injured after being hit by an MTA bus in Manhattan Beach Thursday afternoon.

Police say they believe the boy ran out into the street after his older brother at the Edmund Dweck intersection. They say his 45-year-old mother threw herself into traffic in an attempt to save him.

Police say the boy was pronounced dead at Coney Island Hospital shortly after the incident. His mother suffered head trauma, but is expected to be OK.

Police have not released the names of the victims and say they believe no crime was committed.
