BROOKLYN - Police are searching for a gunman after a woman was found fatally shot in her own Bensonhurst home.

Authorities say 48-year-old Marianne Renato was discovered at 6713 19th Ave. Wednesday afternoon with a gunshot wound to the head.

Neighbors describe Renato as a nice woman who lived with her boyfriend. They say the couple struggled with addiction.

A family member says Renato's boyfriend has not been seen since she was found dead in her home.

Police will not comment about Renato's boyfriend, only saying the investigation is ongoing.
