WASHINGTON - Today marks the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington and Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have A Dream" speech.

People from all over the country gathered in Washington, D.C. to commemorate the event with speeches and songs.

Civil Rights activists marched through the D.C. streets holding signs with King's famous first line of his speech.

A Brooklyn college student, Shantia McCarthur, spoke at the Lincoln Memorial during the "Let Freedom Ring" commemoration.

Former Presidents Gerald Ford and Bill Clinton spoke during the ceremony, as well as President Barack Obama.
