59 NYC cabbies accused in fare-boosting scam

(09/22/10) BROOKLYN - Nine Brooklyn cabbies are among 59 drivers that have been accused of a fare-boosting taxi scam.

City officials say they doubled rates for thousands of passengers. According to officials, the drivers charged suburban rates while in the city, resulting in the theft of more than $235,000.

Anyone who thinks they may have been scammed is asked to file a police report.
