BAY RIDGE - Hundreds of people came to Pier 69 this morning in Bay Ridge to take part in a 5K walk to raise money in honor of a Brooklyn boy.

Pietro Scarso, 4, was diagnosed with the genetic disorder Duchenne muscular dystrophy, or DMD, about a year ago. The disorder prevents growth and could cause Pietro to lose all muscle function.

All the proceeds from today's 5K will go toward finding a cure for DMD.
