6 fallen officers from BK added to Hall of Heroes

BROOKLYN - Fifteen fallen NYPD officers were added to the Hall of Heroes today at police headquarters, six of whom served the people of Brooklyn. Detective Peter Figoski was shot on the job in December while responding to a call of a home invasion in Cypress Hills. His name is now on a plaque in the Hall of Heroes.Officer Alain Schaberger got a plaque as well. Schaberger died last year after he was pushed over a stoop while responding to a domestic violence call in Boerum Hill. George Villanueva, 43, was recently convicted of manslaughter for his death.Capt. Barry Galfano, Sgt. Harold Smith, Detective John Goggin and officer David Mahmoud were also honored today. They all died of illnesses developed after responding to the Sept. 11 attacks.
