BROOKLYN - Half a dozen people have been taken to the hospital after an early morning fire in Cypress Hills.

It started inside an apartment building at 258 McKinley Ave., near Grant Avenue along the Brooklyn-Queens border.

Four residents are among those hurt, including a child, but their conditions are not known. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries.

Officials say the fire started on the first floor, with smoke quickly filling the building.
