6-year-old testifies in mother's murder trial

BROOKLYN - The 6-year-old brother of a young Brooklyn girl who starved to death took the stand Thursday to testify in his mother's murder trial.

Carlotta Brett-Pierce is accused of starving Marchella Pierce to death in September 2010. Prosecutors say the 4-year-old had been tied to a bed, beaten and drugged. In court, her brother said that Marchella was rarely fed.

The girl's grandmother has also been charged with manslaughter for allegedly knowing about the abuse and doing nothing to stop it.
