68-year-old Hannah Harris accused of stealing purse in Fort Greene

BROOKLYN - Police have arrested a 68-year-old woman for allegedly snatching a purse.

Authorities say Hannah Harris stole a purse from a 45-year-old woman at Mullanes Bar & Grill in Fort Greene Sunday.

She's charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.

Investigators believe Harris also stole a purse from inside Tea Lounge on Union Street in Park Slope on June 1.

Police say crimes like this increase in the summer because people are spending more time outside, which makes for a faster getaway in the eyes of would-be criminals. They say you can avoid becoming a target for theft by keeping expensive items out of sight and being aware of your surroundings.

You should also trust your instincts and try to prepare your schedule ahead of time, keeping safety in mind.
