BROOKLYN - Seven Brooklyn schools were on the top 25 list for best scorers on state exams this year.

Teachers and students at P.S. 321 in Park Slope were visited today by Board of Education Deputy Chancellor Marc Sternberg, who congratulated them for their high marks.

He said there weren't any New York City schools that reached the top 25 schools in the state 10 years ago. This year, 22 city schools were among the top 25.

Staff at P.S. 321 say the reason they did so well is because teachers and students work together, and the curriculum reflects that.

The other Brooklyn schools ranked among the top 25 in the state are P.S. 172 Beacon School of Excellence, P.S. 748 Brooklyn School for Global Scholars in Bath Beach, The Active Learning Elementary School in Clinton Hill, The Brooklyn School of Inquiry in Bensonhurst, I.S. 187 The Christa McAuliffe School in Dyker Heights and Mark Twain I.S. 239 for the Gifted and Talented in Coney Island.

The ranking was based on public elementary schools state tests scores in math and English language arts.

City officials, including Mayor Michael Bloomberg and BOE members, will be visiting city schools to mark their achievements.
