7-year-old girl grazed by bullet in Brownsville building

BROWNSVILLE - A 7-year-old girl was grazed by a bullet Friday and police took her 17-year-old cousin into custody for the shooting.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. in an apartment on Bristol Street. Police initially thought the bullet came through an open window. After further investigation, police arrested a teenager at the home.

The bullet wounded the girl in her shoulder. She was taken to Brookdale Hospital and is in stable condition. Police are trying to determine if the shooting was accidental. There is no word on any charges.
