BROOKLYN - Police are searching for a suspect after an elderly man in East Flatbush was struck and killed by a car Monday night.

Investigators say a white vehicle was traveling westbound on Avenue D when the driver hit 72-year-old Ernst Dessources, who was crossing between 42nd and 43rd streets.

Police say they found Dessources unconscious and unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dessource's daughter, Myriam, said he was the best father in the world and requests that the culprit give themselves up.

He leaves behind three children, seven grandchildren and a wife of 46 years.

Dessources' wife declined to speak on camera.

Authorities request that anyone with information contact them immediately or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
