SHEEPSHEAD BAY - Police say a 77-year-old woman was hit and killed by a car in Sheepshead Bay.

According to witnesses, Marlene Baharlias was walking on the sidewalk on East 19th Street at around 2:20 p.m. when a Mercedes Benz pulled up on the sidewalk and knocked her over. Police say the driver was trying to parallel park.

Baharlias was taken to Coney Island Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police say the driver remained on the scene after the accident.
