9 arrested during World AIDS Day rally

BROOKLYN - Nine people were arrested today at a rally on World AIDS Day outside the Brooklyn Public Library.

The protesters were rallying against what they call drastic cuts proposed by Mayor Michael Bloomberg - who was attending a breakfast at the library - to AIDS and HIV services.

At the breakfast, Bloomberg announced a new initiative, Brooklyn Knows!, to "help more than half-a-million residents learn their HIV status and gain access to quality care and supportive services."
