9 firefighters hurt in Greenpoint fire

BROOKLYN - A house fire that broke out in Greenpoint early this morning sent nearly a dozen firefighters to the hospital.Flames ignited inside a three-story home on Meeker Avenue at around 4 a.m. Officials say the fire was contained mostly to the third floor, but residents say the other apartments in the building suffered water damage.Neighbor Donna Santiago says she was woken up by sounds of commotion to find flames shooting out of the windows of the house next door. Firefighters managed to extinguish the flames just before 5 a.m. Nine of them were taken to Bellevue Hospital with minor injuries.
