Officials say flames broke out inside a 20-story building on West 8th Street.

BROOKLYN - An elderly man is dead after a fire in a Coney Island high-rise.

Fire officials say flames broke out on the 15th floor of the Luna Park Apartment Complex on West 8th Street at around 1 a.m.

Authorities say 93-year-old Lipa Briks was found unconscious inside his 15th-floor apartment, and pronounced dead at the hospital.

Many people in the large complex didn't even realize a fire had broken out.

The FDNY says the fire was accidental and caused by electrical wiring.
