BROOKLYN - A child welfare supervisor charged in connection with the death of a 4-year-old girl says she told her superiors her colleague couldn't handle his workload.

Chereece Bell says she had asked her bosses to transfer caseworker Damon Adams out ofher Brooklyn unit three months before Marchella Brett-Pierce died. The toddler was found starved and beaten in her home last year.

Bell and Adams have been charged with criminally negligent homicide for the death. Both have pleaded not guilty.
