African Penguins showcased at New York Aquarium in Coney Island

CONEY ISLAND - The New York Aquarium in Coney Island is holding African Penguin Awareness Weekend to showcase the aquarium's 20 African penguins.

The aquarium says the penguin is endangered and native to the southern tip of Africa.

Visitors are able to see and feel real penguin feathers and eggs. Games are available for children.

Visitors can also learn fun facts about African penguins, including how they thrive at a variety of temperatures and swallow fish whole.

The events at the aquarium run through Columbus Day.
