BROOKLYN - The Angel Program, run by the Futures in Education Foundation, is helping subsidize the cost of private Catholic school elementary tuition for New York City residents.

The program helps student who otherwise could not afford to go to private schools by providing partial tuition assistance starting at $1,500 each year.

The program has been around since 1996 and has helped more than 6,000, including students at St. Catherine of Genoa and St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Academy in East Flatbush.

Organizers say they are considering expanding the program to help even more children.
