BROOKLYN - Anthony Mason, the former New York Knicks player who died last year, was honored Saturday at a celebrity kickball game to raise money for youth activities.

The first-ever Kicks for Confidence game was held in Coney Island at MCU Park, where the Brooklyn Cyclones play.

One of the groups benefiting from the event, the Family On Three Foundation, honored Mason.

Organizers hope that disadvantaged local children will be inspired by being up close and personal with professional athletes and musicians who grew up under similar circumstances.

Proceeds from the event will reportedly be used to hold more activities for kids this summer.
