BROOKLYN - A forum on stopping gun violence was held at Borough Hall yesterday.

The forum comes on the heels of Monday's double shooting. One of the victims, a 13-year-old boy, was walking the streets of Flatbush and was struck by a stray bullet. Community members say this is unacceptable.

Friends of Wingate Park set up the meeting, where members of the police department, elected officials and residents discussed their concerns regarding the number of shootings and killings in the borough.

Some ideas brought to the table were creating more community programs for the youth, more work-study opportunities and bringing neighborhoods together to drive out negative influences.

Organizers say this is the first of many forums. The goal is to get the community talking and hopefully make a difference.
