AP Source: Feds eye NY trial for Gitmo suspect

WASHINGTON - (AP) - A person familiar with the discussions saysfederal authorities are considering sending a Guantanamo detaineenamed Majid Khan to face a federal civilian trial in Brooklyn.

Khan is one of fewer than 20 detainees at the detention centerlabeled high-value by the U.S. government.

Khan lived in Baltimore before moving to Pakistan.Counterterrorism officials say he eventually met reputed Sept. 11mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.

A person familiar with the discussions about Khan says theJustice Department is weighing whether to put him on trial infederal court in Brooklyn, but the person says no final decisionhas been made. The person, who requested anonymity, was notauthorized to discuss the deliberations.
