NEW YORK - (AP) - Two people familiar with a lengthy investigationinto fixing traffic tickets at the New York Police Department sayat least a dozen officers have been charged in the case. The people say the officers were expected to be arraigned Fridayin the Bronx. They spoke to The Associated Press on condition ofanonymity because the charges hadn't been made public. The investigation of Bronx officers focused largely on policeunion delegates. Some are accused of arranging to have tickets tornup as favors to family, friends and others. The charges stem from an internal probe in 2009 of an officersuspected of associating with a drug dealer. Officials say severalofficers were unexpectedly caught on wiretaps discussing how to fixtickets. Union officials say the longtime practice was considered aharmless courtesy.
